What an offer does
An offer is a saving the till gives by itself when the right items are in the cart. The cashier does not type anything: the cart shows the offer under the item, for example Any 3 biscuits for 500: -85.00, and the receipt prints each offer and a line saying You saved.
Offers keep working when the till is offline. The server checks each sale when it arrives, so an offer cannot be given after it has ended.
Make an offer
- Go to POS → Offers and click New offer.
- Type the Name on the receipt, for example Any 3 biscuits for 500.
- Under What does the customer get?, choose one: Percent off, Money off each, Any few for a price, Buy some get some free, or Spend and save. Fill in the numbers it asks for.
- Under On which items?, choose Every item, Some categories or Some products. A category covers the categories under it.
- Under When?, the first day is today. Add a last day if the offer should stop by itself. Untick days of the week it should not run, or tick Only at certain hours for a happy hour.
- If you have more than one store, choose Every store or Some stores.
- Read the sentence at the bottom: it says exactly what the tills will give. Click Start offer.
Tills pick up new offers at their next sync, within a few minutes when they are online.
Offers with a code (coupons)
- Make the offer as usual. Under "Does the customer need a code?" choose "Yes, only with a code". Sevo suggests a code that is easy to read out; type your own if you like (3 to 20 letters, numbers or hyphens, for example SAVE10).
- Under "How many times can it be used?" type a number, or leave it empty for no limit. Tick "Once per customer" if each customer may use it only once.
- Give the code to your customers: on WhatsApp, a flyer or a receipt.
- At the till, the cashier presses Coupon, types or scans the code and presses "Add code". The offer then comes off by itself and the receipt shows the saving.
A wrong code, an offer that has ended, a code used up or already used by this customer is refused with the reason. For a once-per-customer code, add the customer to the order first. The Offers list shows each code and how often it was used, for example "used 12 of 100".
Offers in the online shop
If you have an online shop, the offer form asks "Online shop". A new offer starts with "Also in the online shop" ticked: the offer is given at checkout too, in the same dates, days and hours. Untick it to keep the offer for the tills. Offers made before this choice existed stay at the tills.
In the online shop, the basket and the checkout show the offer under the item and say "You save". The price is worked out again when the order is placed, so the customer pays what the offer gives at that moment. The order page, the invoice and Online shop → Orders show each offer.
An offer with a code runs online too when it is ticked: customers press "Have a discount code?" at checkout and type it. Uses at the tills and online count together towards the limit, and once per customer means once per phone number. Offers for customer groups reach their customers online once they sign in to the shop with their e-mail. An offer for some stores runs online only when it includes the store the online shop sends orders from.
When more than one offer fits
The till gives the customer the best deal first. It works out every offer on the items in the cart, applies the one that saves the most, and then looks at the items that are left. One item is never in two item offers.
Spend-and-save offers come after the item offers: the bill after item offers is compared with the amount you set, and the biggest spend offer is taken off the bill.
Offers do not count towards a cashier's discount limit. A cashier can still give their own discount on top, within their limit.
Pause, run again, end or copy
Click an offer's row to change it. A sale is always checked against the offer as it was when the sale was made, so changing an offer never changes past sales.
- Go to POS → Offers.
- Click Pause to stop an offer for a while, and Run again to start it again.
- Click End when the offer is over for good. An ended offer cannot run again.
- Click Copy to make a new offer from an old one, for example the same offer next month.
Offers in the books
An item offer lowers the price of that line, and VAT is on what the customer paid. A spend-and-save offer is booked with order discounts under Discounts given, without its VAT.
See what your offers did, and sales to check
POS → Offers shows, for this month, how many sales used each offer and how much it took off, with one sentence for all offers above the list.
If a till gave more than an offer allowed, a yellow box lists the sales to check. This usually means the till was offline when the offer ended or changed, or its date and time are wrong. The customer has paid and nothing needs undoing: check the till's date and time, then click Checked.
